Composite Project: PhotoShop
For this project we took a Bible Verse as inspiration to create a photo composite. This was our first Photoshop project for the course. I based my photo composite on 2 Corinthians 5, specifically verse 17.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
To symbolize this verse, I created a scene of an old world devoid of life, that transitions into a fresh, spring hillside. The gate between the two worlds symbolizes rebirth “through” Jesus Christ since he is the way, the truth, and the life. The desert portion of the composite is meant to represent a person’s dying life in sin before his transformation through salvation. The hillside beyond the gate illustrates the new life we receive when we accept Christ into our hearts. I blended a field of daffodils into the scenery because they symbolize new beginnings and rebirth. The trees in the foreground of the desert scene add some depth to the scenery and help symbolize the dead body in sin. I also added a crow on the top of the wall to add some more interesting elements in my composition. The crow is there because crows symbolize transformation and rebirth, thus reinforcing the theme of my verse.
