Monster Project: "Loosey"
To demonstrate all the skills, we learned throughout my Illustrator course, our final project was to design a monster. I created several drafts and different variations of mini monsters until I stuck with this one. He turned out cute and I think this could work well to be incorporated for an illustration of a children’s storybook. Along with the illustration we were required to create a “backstory” for our monsters, to better capture their personalities.
"The three-inch pocket monster’s name is Loosey because he’s a mischievous little guy who likes to steal loose change from your pockets as well as other little things such as gum wrappers or lint. Loosey is ten years old with a small round furry body, little skinny legs, and four long arms. His arms are useful for swinging, climbing, and grabbing so he can steal his little treasures. He shares an apartment in the city with an anxious 35-year-old businessman, who is starting to become paranoid about how he always manages to “misplace” extra change or Chapstick when he puts them in his pockets. He grew up with a family of mice, therefore, he cannot speak but instead communicates through squeaking. His best buddy is the businessman’s young puppy named Joey. Loosey and Joey get into fun together when the businessman is at work and take turns finding things to nibble on like slippers or fight over socks. Lastly, his talent is stealth. He weighs lighter than a feather, so he uses that to his advantage for thieving and has become good at being undetected by humans to steal their loose change from their own pockets."
